BRANDON PLANNING COMMISSION

Draft Meeting Notes

FEBRUARY 25, 2008

 

Planning Commissioners present: Ethan Swift, Anne Bransfield, Matt Carmolli, Jenny Nixon

 

Others present: Charlie Jakiela

 

Call to Order - The Selectboard meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.

 

Members of the Planning Commission attended the 02-25-08 meeting of the Selectboard to inform the Board of the progress on the Town Plan update and the plan to solicit additional feedback and input on the Town Plan update process.

 

Article 5 of the 02-25-08 Selectboard agenda furthered discussion on Planning and Zoning.

 

Generally, the plan to move forward with our town plan update and solicitation of more feedback at town meeting and the library was well received. The Planning Commission outlined the proposal to solicit additional feedback on updates to the Town Plan in the form of a Community survey that will be distributed during town meeting as well as during the voting period on Tuesday, March 4th and at the Brandon Public Library on Saturday, March 8th, 2008.

 

Additional discussion ensued on the status of:

 

  • BLUO amendments adoption
  • Zoning Administrator and Acting Zoning Administrator position nomination
  • Future joint meetings of the Selectboard and Planning Commission.

 

Following discussion on Article 5, the Planning Commission recessed and reconvened the regular meeting of the Planning Commission in the upstairs room of the Fire House.

 

Charlie Jakiela (interim Zoning Administrator) provided an update of his zoning administrator activities and duties to planning commission members.

 

Community Survey - It was determined that we need to include the following on the survey:

- town office address for those folks that want to take their survey home to fill out and possibly mail-in

            - another column on the far right of the other columns for "I don't know" or N/A

            - need and "end date" by which we need the surveys returned by (March 14th?)

 

Next Dates - We'll (PC members) be staffing both our town meeting (Monday night) and Town Meeting day at the ballots with a table and Town Plan summaries and survey. We’ll also be doing the following Saturday at the library. Our next PC meeting will be March 17th to review our completed surveys and strategize for the next town forum now slated for April 10th. We’ll have a mostly final draft of the Town Plan and major sections outlined for review and input.

         March 17th
