Planning Commissioners present: Ethan Swift, Linda Stewart, Jon Andrews, Matt Carmolli, Anne Bransfield
Others present: Dayle Ann Stratton, Emma Lynn Melvin
Call to Order - The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm.

Northeast Regional Stormwater Education Program - Brandon community survey UVM Extension and Lake Champlain Sea Grant are collaborating on the Regional Stormwater Education Program (RSEP), working on increased public awareness of stormwater issues in towns in Vermont (including Brandon). RSEP is a collaboration of Vermont municipalities and other entities to provide regional stormwater education to over 10,000 residents. The RSEP goal is to educate Vermont residents about the impact of their behavior on stormwater quality using professional marketing approaches. RSEP also coordinates stormwater management activities among the participating municipalities and other entities and assists Vermont towns to develop stormwater management plans with public involvement and participation. LCSG supported the production of "After the Storm," an educational video for residents, and a stormwater panel discussion that brought together local officials and stormwater management specialists
Emma Lynn Melvin (UVM - Extension) attended the meeting and presented the results of the community survey that was distributed to residents of community subdivisions in Brandon within the prior year. The survey results (164 respondents) were discussed and next phases of the project were tentatively scheduled. The next action on this project is to sponsor "train the trainer" workshops with local distributors of lawn care products. The survey results will be made available on-line (either through UVM-Extension, the town of Brandon, or both).
Zoning Administrator Position nomination Members of the Planning Commission debated the alternatives in nominating a permanent Zoning Administrator. The planning commission has requested copies of zoning administrator applicants (as per the October 2007 public notice requesting applications) as well as a meeting of the selection committee on several occasions without receiving any such information at this point. Given the status and timeline of zoning administrator applicants, planning commission members determined that there is a lack of information to move forward with nominating a permanent zoning administrator at this time. Motion by Carmolli/ Stewart to recommend that the search be reopened for permanent zoning administrator at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the selectboard (June 9th, 2008). Motion passed unanimously.
Next meeting - Next meeting date has been set for Monday, June 16th, 7 PM at the Library.
Adjourn - Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
