Minutes of Last Meeting
A motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting was
passed.
Treasurer's Report
Brad reported that are taxes have been paid.
A motion to pass the Treasurer's report was passed.
Old Business:
a) Report from Salisbury Rep - Ben Fuller reported
that he and Ben Lawton attended a Salisbury town meeting to petition for level
funding from Salisbury town. The Selectboard agreed to level funding for FY '10
and agreed to make it a budget line item going forward.
b) Vehicle Acquisition Report - Jeff went to
investigate a car that Mort found, but concluded that the asking price was too
high and that there were some significant issues with the truck. We will keep
looking for a 4 wheel drive truck in good condition and priced under $5K.
New Business:
a) Budget Request - We will be requesting
level-funding from all towns. State funding is expected to be about $70K, down
from $140K in years past, and this is to be distributed across an increasing
number of mosquito control districts.
b) Organization and By-law Update - Ben Lawton
found copies of our original bylaws as well as the resolution to incorporate
Goshen as part of the mosquito control district. However, none of the documents
we've found are fully executed. We need to consult with legal council, but it
appears that, to have an up-to-date copy of the records, we may need to pass
these resolutions anew and request that each town's selectboard sign off on
them.
c) Other - Ben Lawton mentioned the state's ditch
program designed to increase wetlands, and we discussed how this might impact
our program. Paul Doty discussed the larvicide program and was advised that we
are looking for more detailed and thorough sampling of "hot spots." We
discussed the difficulty of identifying and mapping appropriate "lines" for
larvicide application.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.
Next meeting will occur on the third Tuesday in March.
